HipHopEd Liberation Literacies

Liberation Literacies sits at the intersection of race, literacies, and social justice in the classroom. A Liberation Literacies pedagogy creates collaborative contexts where multiple literacies relevant to students and their communities are critically engaged and sustained for achievement, actualization, and action. Drawing on critical pedagogies and hip-hop based frameworks, Liberation Literacies views Literacy as a site of possibility for disrupting the dominant racial and cultural ideologies that continue to marginalize students of color in the classroom.
